The weather’s finally starting to warm up and we’re all out and about again. Ditching the warm winter-wear, Australians all around the country are enjoying the fresh spring weather and eagerly awaiting the arrival of summer.

While there are certainly those of us that continue our waxing regiments all year round, many people choose to neglect this area of cosmetic maintenance during the colder months — not bothered by a little bit of growth in areas that won’t be seeing the light of day.

If you’re one of those individuals looking to begin your waxing routine again once again, The Beauty & Brow Parlour has the expert waxing services to have you hair-free in no time! Whether it’s brow waxing, bikini waxing, full body waxing or just about anything else, we’ve got you covered.

Is Waxing Better Than Shaving?

Ultimately, yes, waxing is better than shaving. There’s always going to be an element of personal preference involved, however, the benefits of professional waxing do outweigh at-home shaving.

For starters, waxing just lasts longer. If you’re looking to get more bang for your buck, this is the hair removal method for you. Waxing removes the entire hair from the follicle (root and all), leaving a silky smooth surface for weeks. Anyone that’s a regular shaver will tell you that it only takes a few days for the reappearance of dark stubble — creating a sharp, rough, unpleasant feel.

Many people even report a thickening of their hair after repeated shaving. While there’s no conclusive evidence to confirm this phenomenon, we can confirm that waxing will definitely not cause this. In fact, waxing will actually result in the opposite effect, making the hair grow back finer and softer over time.

I’m Scared It Will Hurt!

Everybody has a different pain threshold, so it’s hard to determine just how much waxing will hurt you. Different areas of your body also have different levels of sensitivity, and areas with thinner skin can hurt a little more than others.

Overall, most regular waxers simply get used to the sensation — as does their skin. When applied correctly by an experienced, trained professional beauty technician, the procedure should be relatively quick anyway. Think about getting a bandaid pulled off (…but maybe a little larger!).

If you do experience any reddening, swelling or increased sensitivity after your waxing appointment, there are some simple things you can do at home to alleviate the irritation.

Where Can I Wax?

Where can you wax? Where can’t you wax?

You can wax anywhere that there’s hair on your body. Waxing is a tried and tested hair removal technique that’s been used for centuries. The only reason not to wax an area is if it’s severely injured or already irritated. Any rashes, sores, open wounds and sunburnt areas should be avoided until the area is once again clear and healthy.

Want to look your best for a big date coming up? Who doesn’t?

When you look good on the outside, you feel good on the inside. Creating the right look can lead to increased confidence, allowing you to feel more at ease and better showcase your authentic self. Even more importantly if it’s the first date, you want to be sure you make a great first impression on a potential lifelong partner.

Below, The Beauty & Brow Parlour offers you a few easy ways to make sure you look your best when you’re meeting that special someone!

Choosing The Right Makeup

Don’t be afraid to choose a more subtle look when it comes to your make-up. It may be tempting to go full-glam, but it’s often best to avoid this.

Picking the right makeup for the type of date you’re on is important too, though. For example, more formal events will obviously require a certain style. However, as a rule of thumb, it’s always better to scale it back a little bit.

Picking more muted, basic tones can achieve a more sophisticated and versatile look that works with a range of different outfit options. While it is important to draw attention to your best features, it’s easy to overdo it when you’re trying to impress.

Achieving The Perfect Brows And Lashes

The eyes are often referred to as the windows into the soul. As poetic as that is, they’re also important in a more practical way. The central focus of your face, the eyes is the first thing we see when speaking to somebody and the feature we spend the most time looking at.

There isn’t a whole lot we can do with our actual eyeballs (nor should we want to!), it’s all about making sure the features that frame our eyes are perfect. This includes the application of eye shadow, mascara, and of course: brow threading, brow waxing, and lash extensions.

There is a range of options available to make your brows and lashes look the way you want. Whether it’s threading and waxing to achieve a neater shape, brow tinting to fill in those sparse areas, or lash extensions to create a longer look —  there are a lot of simples, easy and affordable ways to perfectly frame your eyes.

Making Sure You Looked Refreshed

The best way to make sure you look refreshed is — you guessed it — to actually be fresh!

Staying hydrated and getting a full night’s sleep will do wonders for your skin and your overall health. As you sleep, your skin creates new collagen. This is what stops it from sagging and increases elasticity. Without the appropriate rest, your body simply can’t perform this function, leaving you looking tired and dehydrated.

We understand that getting the right amount of sleep is often easier said than done. Commitments in our life get in the way and it sometimes seems impossible to get enough rest.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to look refreshed, a specifically formulated moisturizer can work wonders. With nourishing ingredients, vitamins and antioxidants, these creams work to revitalize tired skin and target those pesky fine lines. Even great for dark under-eye circles or pigment patches, a brightening eye cream is an important tool to have at your disposal during any date.

Have Fun On Your Date Night

The final and most important tip is just to have fun!

When you’re enjoying yourself, your natural beauty will always shine through. Allowing your potential partner to see exactly what a special person you are.

We’re all different and so is our skin!

Some of our brow areas may require a little more attention than others after our brow threading or brow waxing appointment. As important as it is to make sure your brows are properly cared for before you come and see us, it’s just as important to look after them afterwards. Following the correct procedures will result in you achieving the perfect look for your brows every time!

Neither brow threading or waxing usually results in any severe adverse reactions, however, if you do experience any swelling or redness along the brow area shortly afterwards, don’t worry — it’s completely normal. Probably more likely after waxing than threading, swelling or skin irritation is usually nothing to be concerned about. If you see slight reddening of the brow area or the appearance of little red raised spots, they’ll often just resolve themselves.

It can take anywhere from between 30 minutes to a few hours for these spots and swelling to settle. If you want to speed up the process, though, there are a few simple tricks you can try at home.

Ice Cubes on My Brows After Waxing

Lightly apply a clean ice cube or gel ice pack to the affected area for short periods at a time.

Any sort of cold material will encourage the blood vessels in the affected area to constrict, decreasing circulation. This will help with redness and swelling and can be used in conjunction with the other methods mentioned below.

Grapeseed Oil For Swollen Brows

Containing plenty of Vitamin E, beta-carotene and many other healing compounds, grapeseed oil is a byproduct of the winemaking process. Simply massage a very small amount of the oil into the swollen area, being careful not to put too much pressure on the bumps or aggravating the skin any further. The oil will act to hydrate the area and help with inflammation.

Tea Tree Oil On Red Eyebrows

While not everyone’s a fan of the strong scent, tea tree oil (also known as melaleuca oil) has a range of medicinal uses. Anti-bacterial, antifungal and antioxidant rich, this essential oil is made by steaming the leaves of the Australian tea tree. Much like the grapeseed oil, lightly apply a small amount of the tea tree oil to the affected area to encourage skin regeneration.

Aloe Vera To Soothe Brows

Either as a gel, cream or in its raw plant form, most of us are familiar with the soothing properties of this succulent species. The aloe vera plant naturally contains anti-inflammatory compounds called anthraquinones. When applied to your skin, they promote healing and can reduce the effects of swelling and skin irritation. It’s best to keep any aloe vera products in the fridge or a cold storage place in order to appreciate their full, cool, soothing effects on your skin.

Topical Moisturisers After Brow Threading

The secret to reducing redness and swelling is in hydration. There are a range of over-the-counter moisturising products that are suitable for this application. It’s important, however, not to use any products that contain any alcohols or strong chemical scenting components. These can actually cause more irritation to the area and will only delay the healing process.

Are you a waxer? Maybe you’re an at-home plucker? You might even be someone who believes their brows are under control and wouldn’t dare do anything to change their perfect shape. Whatever your current beauty routine consists of, The Beauty & Brow Parlour is here to explain the differences and benefits of eyebrow threading. You’ll be able to understand why so many Australians (and people around the world!) are taking advantage of this quick, affordable and easy way to give them the eyebrows of their dreams.

A Brief History

Eyebrow threading isn’t new. It’s really old. Most historians believe this cosmetic beauty procedure originated around 6000 years ago! Although there exists debate about the precise geographical birthplace of eyebrow threading, anecdotal evidence suggests that areas like Iran and India were among the first countries to perfect this practice. In these eastern cultures, the removal of hair was synonymous with the journey into womanhood. A ceremonial procedure, a young girl’s first eyebrow threading meant that she was becoming an adult and signified her readiness for marriage! With a rich history like this, it’s hard to believe that brow threading was only embraced relatively recently by the western world. It was only in the last few decades that this technique saw interest from countries like Australia, The United Kingdom and the USA – with it eventually seeing widespread use in more recent times.

How Does Eyebrow Threading Work?

Brow threading works with thread – of course! The technique gets its name from the key piece of equipment used to remove the hair. Your beauty technician will firmly hold the piece of cotton thread over your eyebrows so that it’s taut. Quickly and skillfully moving it over the areas of hair that need to be removed, the unique twisting and pulling motion allow full rows of hair to be removed at once. Trapping the hairs together between the fibres of the thread and pulling them out with ease, this method allows for a very precise finish.

Is Threading Better Than Waxing?

It’s most likely going to be a matter of personal preference when it comes to choosing between threading and waxing. While many people do claim that threading is less painful than waxing, all of us have different comfort levels and pain thresholds, so it’s hard to determine which of the two is easier to endure. Threading is almost certainly a more suitable option if you’re prone to allergic reactions or extreme agitation from traditional waxing products. Without the use of any harsh chemicals, threading is the more natural option and avoids the (albeit low) risk of wax damaging your skin.

Botox has been a commonly used beauty treatment for lines and wrinkles for over 20 years. The cosmetic injectable is administered directly into the skin to reduce fine lines and smooth out the area. Botox works by forcing the muscles in your face to relax, preventing them from contracting to form the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This type of beauty procedure can be quite expensive and must be performed by a trained professional. The active ingredient in Botox is a toxin called botulinum and can be extremely dangerous if incorrectly administered. A temporary treatment, the effects of Botox usually last between three to four weeks. Full results aren’t always visible immediately, they can take upto a week or two to show.

However, Botox alone won’t provide you with a complete skincare treatment. In fact, it does little to actually aid in the health of your skin. It’s used purely for quick and drastic changes to your skin and doesn’t take the place of a facial treatment or regular skin care routine. If you’ve had Botox injected into your face, you may be concerned about how it affects your other beauty treatments and skincare. It doesn’t stop your hair from growing, so you’ll still require the same level of cosmetic maintenance as always.

Can I Get My Eyebrows Waxed Straight Away?

So, the question is, how long do you have to wait after getting botox to get your brows waxed? Most medical experts agree that one to two days is completely fine. It is theoretically possible to have your eyebrows waxed within hours of the procedure but this is not recommended. The liquid Botox needs to be evenly dispersed within your forehead so you’re required to keep your head upright and refrain from touching the area too much for the first few hours. The mild trauma of waxing the area too soon could cause the Botox to move around in an unwanted way. Once you’ve passed the first 24 hours of injection, you should be fine. If you’re somebody that’s particularly cautious, you can wait a full week, but it’s highly unlikely you’ll see any negative consequences after the first day.

Should I Get My Eyebrows Waxed Before My Botox Treatment?

While this might seem like a logical idea, it’s not recommended. The injected Botox will reshape that area of your face. Once it settles, you may find that your brows are no longer shaped the way they were beforehand. There’s no way to add extra hair back onto your face so we highly recommend you wait until after your Botox procedure to see exactly what the best brow shaping option for you is.

Waxing is a very effective method of hair removal. Quicker and more efficient than shaving, waxing has been an essential beauty technique used for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all underwent some sort of waxing hair removal service in order to achieve their desired aesthetic. Some historians even report cavemen went to great lengths to remove their body hair – albeit for survival purposes not beauty!

It wasn’t until the 1960s that we saw the hair removal technique start to resemble what we know today. Take-home wax strips and salon waxing became a popular beauty technique to achieve silky smooth legs and arms.

Today, we wax for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s comfort, appearance or any other reason, waxing offers an easy alternative to shaving and often helps with common issues like razor burn and ingrown hairs. Here at The Beauty & Brow Parlour we know that waxing is an essential beauty service and offer a range of waxing options.

Our services include:

How To Prepare For Waxing

full leg waxing

Waxing can be a sensitive issue in more than one sense of the word. Eyebrow waxing, our arms, legs and most other areas are relatively easy to endure, but when it comes to areas like our bikini line it’s perfectly normal to feel hesitation. The Beauty & Brow technicians are all qualified professionals that are there to make your experience as easy and pleasant as possible. Trusting in the skilled services of our technicians can help put your mind at ease.

In terms of skin preparation, it depends on the area. Generally, your hair should be at least a quarter of an inch long before your appointment. Waxing directly after a razor shave will not work. The wax requires enough hair on your skin to firmly grip onto in order to properly remove the entire hair – root and all – from the follicle.

Some customers who are particularly sensitive to waxing choose to employ the use of an over-the-counter pain reliever before visiting our salon. A mild angelisic will usually help you through the process if you find it a little too difficult.

It’s also important to make sure the area has no creams or lotions applied to it before your wax. This can make your skin too slippery and not allow the wax to adhere properly.

Caring For Your Skin After A Waxing

Looking after your skin post-wax is an important step. To reduce the chance of any issues, The Beauty and Brow Parlour suggests avoiding very hot showers and baths during the 24 hour period after your treatment. Additionally, wearing tight clothes, intense exercise and touching the area should be avoided directly after waxing. Cold compresses can be used to soothe the area and over-the-counter antiseptic creams can be applied to particularly inflamed areas.

The Beauty & Brow Parlour are the experts in all wax hair removal services. Whether it’s eyebrow waxing or brazilian, we’ve got you covered. Locate your nearest parlour today to book in for a wax!

The latest TikTok trend has everyone brushing through their eyebrows, showing off thick, luscious, dark, brow hairs. It’s interesting to see how brows make such a big difference and how much we care about them.

Eyebrows go in and out of style. Take the early 2000s eyebrows for example, the thinner they were, the trendier! People were plucking out all their eyebrow hairs, and preferring to draw lines, to substitute for their natural brows.

However recent eyebrow trends have come to appreciate thicker, fuller eyebrows and everyone is striving for that strong brow game.

Why Do We Even Care so Much About Our Brows?

Well, not only do eyebrows frame your entire face and are maintained for beauty purposes, but they also physically there to keep our eyes clean and clear. They move wetness from sweat and rain away from our eyes so we can maintain our sight. They also assist us daily by aiding in our communication and are important for micro-expression.

The brow industry, as you may already know, is extensive. People care a lot about their brows as it helps sculpt and define a face.

However, for many, maintaining eyebrows can seem like a trying task as there are so many ways to do it! It is important to keep in mind, though, that everyone’s brows are unique and we all have our own ways to tame them. Plus, we need to remind ourselves of the eyebrow mantra – “eyebrows are sisters, not twins”.

Why Care About the Shape of Our Brows?

Well, brow shaping can help you

Overall, having shaped and maintained brows can help you look more put together and give the impression of keeping yourself in good shape. This not only has positive implications within friends and networks, but also allows your own confidence to be boosted!

Do you have a little to no brow hair? Thinking of dyeing your brow hair because it’s too light but you still want it to look natural? Or do you want to look as if you have had your make-up done without having to do your brows? Bolder eyebrows are taking the centre stage and the latest eyebrow beauty trend to help you achieve your dream brows is through Brow Tinting and Henna Tinting.

The Beauty and Brow Parlour offers Brow Tinting and Henna Tinting. Both of these brow services offer great colour. Ideal for those looking for an easy brow enhancement and want to obtain the ultimate brow look.

Every woman desires to have a perfect eyebrow shape and colour and choosing a brow treatment will take you a lot of time to decide as we are all rooting for the best result. If you are unsure which one to choose, here’s what you need to know more about Brow Tinting and Henna Tinting:

How Brow Tinting Works?

Brow Tinting simply stains your brows instantly. It gives you a thicker brow as the lighter and fine hair darkens. Resulting in deeper, more prominent brows of hair. You can achieve that gorgeous and naturally dark eyebrow look without having to fill in your brows every day. So, say goodbye to your brow make-ups!

If you have a busy lifestyle and looking for a quick and commitment-free brow treatment, Brow Tinting is ideal for you. It is good if you don’t have much time in the salon and just wanted to solely dye your brow hair. Aside from that, this technique is wallet-friendly too!

This service only takes 15 minutes per session so, no appointment is needed. Most of the clients opt for this service after their Brow Threading or Brow Waxing session.

How Henna Tinting Works?

Henna Tinting is relatively new to the industry but demand for the service is growing quickly. The purpose of this is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth and fullness in the area, visually filling in any sparseness.

Henna Tinting is suitable for those with slightly sparse eyebrows because it will not just stain your brows, but also stains the skin beneath the eyebrow to create a powder-filled look. It also lasts longer than the regular eyebrow tint. Furthermore, the henna tint gives your brow a fuller appearance and can last on your skin for around two weeks and in your hair for up to six weeks.

Other than that, Henna is proven safe for sensitive skin. It is an all-natural dye made from a plant called Lawsonia inermis or Henna Tree which has fewer chemicals and no harsh ingredients.

Henna Tinting is a new addition to our beauty services and only available at some selected stores. If you are interested, you can check our website to find your nearest parlour that offers this service.
